Teacher’s Bio
Leanna Yoo is a dedicated and passionate music educator with over a decade of experience in piano instruction, performance, composition, and collaborative musicianship. With a strong classical foundation and a student-centered approach, she inspires young musicians to explore their creativity, develop technical skills, and build a lifelong appreciation for music.
Leanna specializes in guiding students through their first steps in music—teaching them how to read sheet music, understand rhythm and harmony, and explore a variety of musical genres. She integrates music theory, history, ear training, and instrumental techniques into her lessons, carefully adapting her teaching style to suit the needs and learning styles of each individual student.
In addition to her teaching work, Leanna is a certified NYSSMA adjudicator, providing detailed, constructive evaluations to students across New York State. As a certified Steinway & Sons Educational Partner, active member of Music Teacher National Association (MTNA) and an experienced performer and accompanist, she brings a broad and dynamic perspective to music education.
Her early training was shaped by her studies at Juilliard Pre-College. Leanna holds a Bachelor and Master of Music from Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, her second Master of Music degree in Chamber Music Piano from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and a Professional Studies Certificate in Piano Performance from the Manhattan School of Music.
